Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is a major Hindu Shaivite Shiva temple located on the shores of Lake Bratan, set within the highlands of the mountainous Bedugul Regency. The majestic Ulun Danu Temple was constructed in honor of Dewi Danu, goddess of the lake that was formed by a volcanic eruption 30,000 years ago. Lake Bratan is known as the Lake of Holy Mountain due to the fertility of this area and as main source of irrigation in central Bali.
Located 1200 m above sea level, it has a cold tropical climate.
